Any tips when you get hooked?
I got hooked the other day and wouldn’t recommend trying.

OUCH. I would cut he shank, push the barb through and remove.
I’ve been hooked a couple times and just pulled it out. None of them were really bad though.
Had a little Hybrid Striped Bass shake his head & bury one of the hooks of a treble hook in the side of my thumb and under the thumbnail. Couldn't use the "line yank" method (didn't really know how or trust doing it), so I iced it down as best I could & wiggled it loose enough to yank it out. Wrapped it with a band-aid & went on fishing. My fishing buddy was no help, as he's kinda hemophobic (can't stand blood).
Same fishing buddy of mine sunk a crank treble (1 hook) into the top of his brother's head. I pushed it thru and clipped off the point/barb and pulled it back out. We finished fishing with no further incidents.
Man up and yank out method for me also. Hooked the farmers Bull with a rattle trap on the back cast years ago. Mean thing would sneak up on you and bump you into the pond. I got him that time. Baited him up with some bread and yanked it out with pliers. He didn't sneak up on me anymore :Rofl
For me personally it seems to be no difference in the pain weather you push through and cut off or yank it out
First make sure you don’t have the barb around a tendon , then decide if it’s a shorter distance to push thru or yank it out.

try not to get hooked first and foremost ...just saying :highfive
It works. I know a guy who is great at it and has removed tons of hooks from others at weekly Thursday night bass tourneys. You can stat at about the 1:35 mark of the video because it's kind of a long demonstration but can do this by yourself.
