curious if anyone here tows or owns a mid sized pickup, i have been thinking of one, but they don't seem to be able to handle a 7ft rod.

I carry multiple 7 foot one pc. rods in mine and to be sure even with 255,000 plus miles it will flat out pull the house down , we actually own 2 of them ( my wife's 4x4 truck is a duplicate but with a 3.8 and 9 speed auto 2021 ) , much easier to get around in than a full size and will perform like a big truck when asked to do so ...
gas mileage is similar to big trucks though and the pre 2019 versions are the ticket ...mine has the big ole 4.0 v-6 puts close to 300 ponies to ground and with the 5 speed auto she will pull quite well , dragged my 38 foot house trailer to our place with mine and lots of boats and trailers and barrels of concrete and etc .....
my buds big ole v8 ford won't pull any more than my lil "baby" truck .....:Rofl
I love my Nissan Frontier 4x4 4 door 2010 year model ....
wife's version of this model truck actually makes more horsepower than mine , but don't think it has the low end torque to tow heavy stuff , never tried to with it as of yet ...:highfive
7 foot rods are no problem for my quad cab Tacoma
The Nissan Frontier can be equipped with a 6’ bed in both King Cab and Crew Cabs.
i was looking at the 2023 Colorado. with 4 doors and the 310hp turbo.

I can carry 8’ rods running diagonally in my 4 door 2012 Canyon. That’s about max inside though.
I drive a 2006 Toyota Tundra Access Cab and can sit a 7' rod in the passenger side floorboard and it doesn't touch the back window when run diagonally between the front seats. I don't carry my rods in the bed of the truck, nor do I "leave them" in the truck (bed or cab) between trips.
