Motor Question
Hi guys. Long time no post. I have been off the water now for over 2 months. Mother-in-law is still sick and living with us. Just got her out of the hospital after an 11 day stay. I can't take the boat to the lake because we have only one vehicle, and I hate to leave wife and granny with no transportation in case of emergency. What I need to know, is that since I am not running the motor, should I move it over where I can get a hose to it and crank it and run it for awhile to keep the seals from getting hard?
Till I can get back on the lake, I'm just sittn and wishin I was fishin. Please pray for Granny. Thanks.

Flyflinger, sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. My thouhgts and prayers will be with you all. As far as your motor goes, I'am no expert but I would think if your not going to be using it for along while you could just fog it like some people do in the winter time. I would for sure put some kind of stablilizer in your gas if you have much left. Not much help but its all I really know. Take care buddy.

I agree on the fuel stabilizer and it wouldn't hurt to hook up the water hose and run in some of the fuel with the fuel stabilizer in it. I always would start mine at the house if it had been several months since I ran it. I don't want to be stuck at the ramp with a hard to start motor.

Hey Fly,
Biggest think you can do is run the gas out the motor. The fog will help if you are gonna put it up far a long time. Try not to keep fuel over the winter or for a long time. I have a 1966 Merc that I run the gas out of it every time I put it up and she starts without much trouble each year.
Take care of Mom-and-law. Y'all will be in our thoughts and prayers. From what I see, you're not missing much. Keep us up to date with what's going on.

I am just now starting to use stabilizer for the first time in my life. Normally my boat didn't sit long enough. Last fall I ran it through the toon boat on what I figured would be my last outting. It cranked up this year just like it was last weekend the last time I used it. I'm sold on it.

Thanks guys, what do you mean by fogging the motor? I hadn't thought of stablizer until now, but I think that is an excellent idea.
Granny is feeling a bit better this morning, but still, ovarian cancer is not fun and this is her second time around so the outlook is not good. Thanks for your prayers.
