Went last Saturday from 7 til 2 and caught 8 crappie. All good fish but just not the numbers. Did have a personal best Black Crappie #2.4. I live 5 minutes from this oxbow and have fished it all of my life, I'm 58 and the last two years are the worst I've ever seen on this body of water. I don't spider rig, that was single pole and livescope. Even with the scope I didn't see a whole lot of crappie

I appreciate the info, I live around Jena and it is a way for an old 77 yr to go. Plus wife is 84. But we love fishing there. have caught may many barfish there over the years. They are super fun. and not bad eating either.Quote:

Concordia on the other side of the levee from Old River at Minorca, is the bream and bluegill place. Crickets or worms easy peasy. Crappie on the other hand are harder to find, at least for me.
