Just because you have a live scope

Doesn’t mean you have to be a jerk. My wife and I fished Enid this morning pulling cranks. As we caught our first keeper, 3 guys in a big glass boat were passing by. They saw us pulling our fish in, hit the brakes, and cut in front of us. About 20 yds from my boat! Dropped the trolling motor and literally fished in front of us for over 200 yds, looking back over their shoulders. If I cut left, so did they. If I cut right, same thing. I’m really working on trying to be nice, but that was uncalled for.

Sounds about right, we are living in times where everyone seems entitled. No matter on the roads or on the water. The one thing these video game guys don't realize is they are very much touchable unlike the virtual reality they see themselves in. Won't take but one time to cross the right one or wrong should I say. Then its game over!

Apparently those guys didnt know how to catch a fish and wanted to see how you were doing it. Happens here all the time when people see you catching fish. Then theres always a jerk that doesnt know which way to troll his boat and is always cutting you off. I usually reel in my fish with the rod stuck down in the water.;)

I think it’s a enid thing haha had a guy do the same thing to up power trolling the other weekend

Would have been time to reel in the lines and crank the big motor. Maybe give them a bit of a wake on the way out

I’d probably been pretty plain with them since I now have live scope there is no reason what so ever to look at what someone else is doing and try to follow ! You can drop that live scope and turn the trolling motor on and find fish in a hurry. Making em bite may be a different story . But people are just plum too lazy not willing to put in the time and effort to find fish . It’s not just that lake it’s every where now days !

Certainly sad

I had similar happen once at Wallace creek. I saw people out trolling back towards dam in the main lake. I was new to trolling and I started trolling just out in front Wallace ramp going back up into the creek a ways. Then back out towards main lake turning g around just past ramp. After about three laps and catching some small fish 8-9” they in the big boats started trolling my way some were trolling faster than me and would pass me and move over and get in “my” lane slow down. I’d follow them a aways and turn around before they did and they would then realize I wasn’t back there and do the same thing. I thought it was funny because the guys didn’t know this literally like the first second time I trolled and the first time ever fishing/trolling Enid. I think I caught 30-40 fish and only about 5 I could keep.

Have had guides to get on brush piles after they observed us picking up fish pulling cranks . Best not to make short repeated runs . lol

It’s tough out there these days. I am now only 63 years of age. But just to touch on how folks fish today. I recall the days when you saw someone fishing everyone slowed down that came by to keep from blowing you out of the water or maybe even throwing you out of your boat. As for having any respect on the water those days seem to be gone. Till this very day I continue to slow down to reduce wake issues while someone is trying to fish even the tournament fishermen that’s only got a short time to “win” should slow down. I have been a tournament fisherman I still slowed down. I am not even going to get started on the Sea-Doo traffic. The only time today I see someone slowdown is to mark your spot that they see you catching fish on. I call them want to be fishermen.
As for me I will continue to respect those fishing, swimming or even joy riding. It’s like on the road and on the water it’s about safety and respect. In my book if you’re much of a fisherman by slowing down for others want reduce your chances to catch fish. Like everything it’s got to start somewhere, so it’s in our hands. I had a young fisherman go fishing with me and asked me why I slowed down, once we got to our fishing spot I explained it. He stated why do you when no one else does. Before the day was out he wanted to know why we didn’t go back to a spot we saw a man and his wife catching fish in and was gone at the time he asked. Again another lesson. Respect for the sport of fishing and others. Respect and not about self but others.
