I fish with braid/swivel/ mono leader. yesterday I had more fish pecking at the swivel than were interested in the jig. I have noticed this in the past,
but for whatever reason it happened more yesterday than any other time. I tried downsizing my bait , but they still ignored it. They would
swim right past the jig to the swivel . If I raised the bait to the fish , it would swim away.
I am thinking about ways to weaponize the swivel. Any body ever try something like this with success ?

No reason you couldn't use a split ring and add a small hook
Got any jigs the same color as the swivel ??
Don't know about your lake, but I haven't had any fish shy away from a jig tied directly to my braid. (PowerPro 10/2 hi-vis)
Anything in between you and the jig other than the line is a super duper no no , unless you have to use a float , you want to hammer you GOT to go direct ...
I have crappie go after the sinkers all the time. Best thing is to not drop too deep or too quickly. I like to stop a couple feet above them and just ease the jig down to right above their heads. The sinker will always fall faster than the lighter jig anyway. so I need that split second for the jig to fall past the weight.
there is also this thing called tandems , in your case with your problem it would be a tiny one on the top ....just saying
Are you assuming it’s crappie? Or is the water clear enough you can positively Id them?
It could be blue gill or some other pan fish that like to eat small stuff . They can drive you nuts!

Judging by the image on livescope , they are crappie and some look to be good sized. I tried the smallest hair jig in the box , trimmed the hair
just behind the bend in the hook. They still went for the swivel.
I like the split ring idea. I will put the ring on the top eye and use a small short hook that will lie beside the swivel .

Why not use a double uni knot & eliminate the swivel? It’s easy to tie & eliminates the swivel that they’re biting.
