I just bought my first boat in a while. It is a 1436 plain jon boat and I am going to use it to fish these small TWRA lakes in TN. I am going to troll jigs and cranks and probably be fishing less than 6hrs at a time. Right now I have a 30lb thrust Minn Kota.
I am wondering how long a 50ah lithium battery will last with a lighter type boat? I will prob. put my HB side view on it. Thanks for any help. tnduxcaller
I have a 100 amp with a 55lbs troller on it. 17.5 foot boat. We shot docks for 5 hours and used 17% of the battery
Personally, I wouldn't chance it unless I had some form of backup power. You'd likely be much safer with a 100ah Lithium.
I ran my ECO-Worthy 50a Lithium for 6hrs, running my Livescope/Garmin 93sv system, before it ran out of juice. (max pull of that system is around 6a/hr) I do, however, believe the battery was NOT fully charged when used (likely around 80-90% charged). I will test it again, next time I go, making sure the battery is at 100% charge.
Your best bet is to find out how many amps per hour your trolling motor will pull at a constant full speed setting, then buy the appropriate sized battery to have some charge left over after a full day's use. :twocents
