Durn it!!!!!
Son came in this weekend with no boat so we hit a pond behind the house. We were throwing them back due to thinking we would catch a few but not a lot. Ended up with twenty crappie and 10 nice bass. All released to fight again.

most were in the 11-13” range. Very healthy. I stocked this pond 7 years ago with 1000 crappie,1000 bream and ten thousand minnows. Hopefully it’s getting ready to pay off. Son had a ball his old man did also.

Last week I proved you could fish without electronics or trolling motor and be successful. But don’t underestimate the comforts of these two luxurious items. They make it much easier but it’s still possible to use block and rope, still bring home the meat. I’ve yet to own a livescope, I see it as a necessity moving foward on open water. This week I proved a 5 acre pond could support crappie that are healthy. I’ve also proved crappie would feed down after being told all my life they only feed up. I’ve owned several lake houses with underwater lights and the only way to get a bite was to slow roll across the bottom. We caught 75 one night slow rolling bottom 12-15” crappie. Ok overall we had a GREAT day. Just wish I woulda kept the fish we caught today. TIGHT LINES!!!!

Sometimes the electronics are a distraction, and we just need to pay attention to the fish!
