Deck thickness

Is 1/2" osb sufficient or need 5/8 for raised decks?

With the right support structure underneath it should be fine.

1/2 is fine if supported properly but you do not want OSB. Plywood holds up much better to getting wet. No boat manufacturer has ever used OSB for decking.

If you live in Pontiac, try Menards lumber. They don’t stock marine grade stuff but you can order it with tongue and groove joints. Mine is 16 years old and still solid. Best of luck.

I agree.
My confusion comes from the lumber yard telling me that osb is stronger and has better exterior glue than plywood.

Marine plywood for sure. Exterior plywood isn't what it used to be

Marine plywood has more plies and no voids. Same material, same glue. High quality exterior ply sheathing is fine, get a decent grade like BCX and seal it.
