Fished a gravel pit from 1-5 today and found 18 keepers and a few shorts. Bite slow but steady on a slider grub 30 inches under a cork. First pit I fished gave up 1 bite but shady side of big pit had a few on it

Knew I should have went there yesterday. Figured it was bad muddy. Good catch.

I thought same thing saturday morn so didnt go and then saturday afternoon drove out to look at conditions and creeks were clearing so I knew that sunday would be decent conditions...water was only a foot or so below pool so had no issue getting into the gravel pits. Only found one fish on the sunny side of the big pit but the shady side had blacks on the structure around the bank and whites were feeding on bait out off the bank.....
Nice mess of fish. Enjoy

Great report, thanks. Looks like a good mess for sure.
I deer hunt back around what everyone calls the gravel pits but never understood where the actual gravel pits were.

the woods to the south and east of mooresville are littered with old pits, some of which are connected to limestone creek save for extreme low water....a dirt road leaves mooresville to the south and ends at the creek across from 2 small pits but the best ones are downstream a quarter mile........also can be accessed from pryor rd with some work. lots of pits in the woods north of the highway too that hold crappie and rarely get fished.
Thank you.
