Plastic on Double Minnow rigs

Just wondering if anybody has ever used plastic on 214EL hooks?
I have hundreds of double minnow rigs already made up and getting away from using minnows.
I hate to think I will have to cut all the hooks off and re tie with jigs.
Hoping I can just add plastic instead of minnows when I am lazy and want to spider rig.
Any thoughts?

Thought about doing that, but never put it into practice. Even thought about making the "hook" into a "jig" of sorts by adding a very small split shot to the hook shaft or on the line just above the hook eye and then adding a plastic bait. Never really got started Spider Rigging and jumped straight into Pushing, so I never got "round tuit".

I guess that’s a thought…
Putting a split shot on the line a few inches above each hook.
I usually push minnows at about .2-.5 mph and just thought a plastic would float up too much.
Most plastics will thread on the hook nicely. They will probably stay in place pushing at the speed I normally go.

Try wrapping the hook shank for about 1/2” with dental floss and tie with a single overhand knot then trim the ends.
Best to start at the eye and double wrap back to the eye.
You could also use small diameter shrink wrap, then use a match or lighter to shrink it.
Dont try it with pcs. of shrink wrap longer than about 3/16”, use 2 of them.
longer pcs. will be hard to work around the bend of the hook.
Super glue will hold the plastic in place.
I also do that with the no shank jigs which i prefer using.
A small bead ahead of the hook eye works well for the hollow body plastic to keep the hook from punching thru, but that would require retying in your case.
You need to push the line thru first, then add the bead and tie on the hook before pulling it into the body of the plastic.

I think I might put a drop of superglue on the hook shank like you suggest.
My rigs are tied in the conventional Capps and Coleman manor.
Almost all are using a 3/8 barrel sinker above a three way swivel.
Top hook with leader may flow out normally when pushing but kinda think the bottom bait may swing out also. Guess I’ll just put on a split shot a little above it and see how it goes.

I saw a YouTube, see below, but they had minnow on top hook and a Bobby Garland tipped with a fireball. So I’d say yes lol

Richard Gene the Fishing Machine uses that dental floss and super glue trick too. I have tried it and found out that it works. Soft plastic lures really stay on the hook by doing that.
