The Ballcap made me do it .......
Years ago I had tshirt that said this ....
I do what the voices in my tree stand tell me to do :yikes
much the same these days is my ever-growing crappie.com ballcap collection.
since 2 or 3 ride with me in my truck they often go to chatting under their ballcap breath when I am driving to and fro .....
some days they get to me with all that background chatter , if I was stronger willed I might be able to withstand the onslaught of constant pushing me towards doing it, with all that subliminal chattering .......:Rofl
but until I get better at saying NO , YES is my friend .....:crazy:
went for a short boat ride , starting off very slow .
bud even mentioned possibly getting SKUNKED !
I was then of course really determined to make it turn around .
could find a few here and there but not get bit.
started playing the wind as we should have early on instead of where they were yesterday and guess what .....KABOOM
first one over the side was a black crappie at close to 14 inches .
then started the discussion with my buds brother about there being no black crappie in that lake :banghead
continued to be a bit slow but they were quality fish, the newbie was running minnows and managed to land a monster channel cat at one stop and I was in the time to move when that happened nonono
so the wind changed and I told em ,we got to go over there , we went over there and as you might have guessed, made right quick work of a bunch of dandy crappie , lots of 13 to 14 inch whites and MAJOR KABOOM bites , no I think that's a fish .
51 degree water temp. 14 to 16 feet deep on the bottom , slow rolling a BIG ole 3.5 inch set up ....
Go Go minnow hammer time , man I love how hard they hit that bait in the fall
as good as any spring run crappie or better all day long :highfive
left when the box was full of fish ....
ballcap sighed on the way home , satisfied it seems for a day or so I hope , it got right cold last night :biggrin
go get you a crappie.com ballcap is my suggestion , if you don't mind subliminal chirping about hammering a box full of slabs from time to time ....:cheers2
p.s. and put some scent on that bait , it for sure matters , just saying
