Good for you. Hope it puts you on a limit of slabs.
Nice and congrats!
Which features did you get on your Terrova? MDI? I-Pilot/Link?
I have a 24v 80lb thrust, 60" shaft (wish I would have gotten a 54" shaft but they didn't offer it. I also got MDI and I-Pilot Link. I love it. Spot lock is great, MDI is great and Link is fantastic. I linked it to my 5 port ethernet and can control teh motor by either sonar unit (bow/counsel), remote or drive by wire foot peddle. To be honest, I've never used the foot peddle. I have it on the boat under the bow storage compartment, but never used it. 90% of the time I use the remote.
The bluetooth heading sensor is fantastic and accurate. I link it to my sonar units as well for mapping.
Tips- spotlock, navigation, and crusie control work great. The biggest challenge I had was being impatient. Took me a while to realize they were working, just not fast enough for me. Once I slowed down, I gained more boat control. I wasn't always hunting for my path. I let the unit do its job. It'll drift about 20, but it will make speed adjustments to get back on track, just give it time to react. I use follow the contour all the time. Especially after mapping a section using Autochart on my humminbirds. You can follow contour lines or offset by x feet to one side or the other +/- feet. You can hit anchor when you catch fish, then resume your navigation.
I spend more time fishing and less time messing around wiht boat control. it'll take a few seasons to figure it all out. I printed out the cheat sheet and laminated. Stuck it int eh boat and referred to it to figure out how to use a feature (spot lock, follow a contour, etc.).
Edited to add- one of my favorite features is spotlock and jog. Push teh arrow button in any direction and the trolling motor will move you in 5' increments. Need to move 5 feet left, push the left arrow key. Boom, 5' left. Need to move 5' up, push the up arrow, boom 5'. I think you can move up to 15' at a time. Really helps to get on teh spot on the spot.
Enjoy!!! Post up your first impressions....
