What a fun morning!
Left the house around 9:30 and the temp was 55 degrees. Sunny with a little wind .
I took two rods , my 6’ St Croix Avid Panfish paired with a Daiwa LT 1000 Legalis , spooled with 4# P-Line Flouroclear and my 5’ Rosewood UL rod paired with a shallow spool Piscifun Carbon X 1000 spooled with 2# P-Line Crystal Clear .
I started fishing at the local water reservoir that has about 75 yards of riprap .
Fishing with a Trout Magnet 1/64 jighead and Black Bobby garland Itty Bitty SwimR .
I was trying out the 4# with the 1/64 jigs for distance. It worked pretty good but as it turned out I didn’t need to cast far . I mainly jigged the rocks and pockets right at the bank .
After about an hour I switched to the 5’ Rosewood UL but used a tiny 1/124 jighead with the black BG IB SwimR.
Surprisingly the rod would cast the light jig as far as the longer rod with a 1/64 jighead , about 40-45 feet .
I caught a total of 15 gills, green sunfish, and warmouth.
At eleven o’clock, I left fish biting to go check out the creek that was about 10-12 minutes away .
The creek was as low as I’ve seen it . I could see the bottom in most places .
I gave it a try anyway and caught a small redbreast on my first cast on the 5’ Rosewood UL and the 1/124 jig .
I was able to cast almost completely across the creek .
In a little over thirty minutes I caught 15 small gills , and redbreast and a small bass that wanted a little snack . :) .
The little rod was awesome. I’d forgotten how much fun a short UL rod can be .

Lotta fish always makes for a good time, like the looks of that Green sunfish.

Some good fishing there, gill. A fine looking bass.

A trip I wish I could get. The bass had to be a hoot on the little gear. Still flooded bad here, both fresh and salt water ramps closed. I might have to do some groundwork today and try my hand at bank fishing.
