Some years back I experimented with circle hooks. Had used them for years with great success, but wondered if there was a best knot. Turns out there are two of them. The Snell and a loop knot perform best. It has to do with how the hook exits the mouth. These allow the tip to stick, and then of course the fish finishes the set. I could snell my hooks and catch fish in the side of the mouth, or tie a loop and catch them dead center in the bottom jaw.
