this is depressing

on Thursday last week i go to Prompton Dam. i am fishing from shore and only caught one blugill, so as i was walking to another spot 2 guys come into the boat launch, i ask one of them how did you guys do, he picked up a rope with about 30 to 40 real nice crappie's, i was stunned. the guy pointed out the area where they caught these fish, he even showed me the plastic bait they used, this was about 2pm. i did not asked them the time they started fishing. i go home charge the batteries and back i go with the boat to where the guy pointed out and even the same bait, 3 hrs up and down that shore line where they caught their load, i did not catch one. very depressing. any reason.....i started fishing around 2 pm to 7pm

I doubt they "caught them all" from that spot, but it is possible that removing that many from there caused the remaining fish to move away. Or they could have moved for other reasons.
But ... there was a reason why the fish were there, either cover or baitfish (or both), so mentally mark that spot for future visits.

BLNT. Of course you know some fishermen have been known to fib ‘bout where their honey hole is and the bait they’re using.

I was think “false info” when I read your post as well. Don’t get frustrated and remember it’s called fishing not catching. May you have better luck next time out. :fish

i did see their boat where they were fishing, it was an area of shoreline about 500yds long they were drifting down and back up and drifting down again, that i saw, as for the bait they were around my age and the way he expressed himself about the bait, i did believe him, after sat fishing there, i had high hopes, then boom, i'd figure maybe i might do better playing Bingo on Tuesday nights, then crocheting on Thursday night then fri and sat take up coloring for seniors LOL

I even saw 2 guys catching them over a known brushpile, me nothing

Pretty simple.....they left because they caught all the fish there.:Rofl

The same has happened to me. My best day to date was 3 hrs on December 11 in 2012. I fished from 7 til 10 and called a friend about a quarter of 9 and told him to get over here, it’s goin on. He did and had a bucket with him. I weighed 10 crappie that was just under 18lbs with a 2.2,2.4, and my pb at 2.6lbs in that group. I released all but 3 or 4 that wouldn’t revive and dropped them at some friends restaurant and went to work. My friend caught one or two of average size. The timing was that close. Like has been said, it may be different when you’re the first one there some morning.

One of the first rules of fishing . You can not catch someone else fish . find your own fish and pay close attention the how, when and where and you will have them asking you . jmo.
