It's very nice in my building today, feeling a little like fall, so decided to make a day of it, just relax and tie a few.
My mind wandered to open water livescoping and recalled some stripers ever called on crappie jigs. So, or not tie? Stripers jig, something they might like a little better than normal. Colored crappie jigs. Add a little more flashy to it or something.
Here's what came out the other end:

Yeah, it should work for both.
The stripers are a little shy about biting most crappie jigs but will chase it often. Need something better to close the deal.
They are a blast on crappie poles too.
I see them quite often with livescope and have caught quite a few. So a dedicated striper pole would make a good addition and provide a more exciting experience.
Blue cats are also seen up in the water a lot and can be a real test of tackle. They usually need some excitation to get a bite, but not always, sometimes it's a hammer.
String stretching. More fun!
Besides, it's never certain what your looking at until you see it in person, so it's a good way to learn what different species look like on sonar.
Made it a pair with a second tie this evening, with some changes of course! :cool:

Here's the second one on that theme to make a pair.
Did this one a little bit different, changed the black flash to Pearl, used less fishhair gray this time in order to give the flash a little more movement. And it's also 3/16 and a bit longer.
Still working on my thread bodies, rings, and bands. Pretty rough looking as far as spacing in particular, but I really like the looks on a jig.
