Electric Fillet Knives

Anybody bought one lately? I had the Mr Fisherman and then the Piranha and they MIGHT last me a year. Tops! So..........I did a little research and narrowed it down between the Bubba Electric and the HD Rapala Electric. The Bubba was $100 and the HD Rapala was $55. Now I dont know how good that Bubba is but I cleaned a few fish with the rapala and that thing doesnt even feel rib bones.:yikes Matter of fact you gotta be careful not to push or you will cut thru the backbones. Now if any of you guys have ever run the Mr Fishermen series of fillet knives you know that you have to push the blade thru the fish. Not so with the Rapala R121HD. The blades criss-cross about twice as wide as the cheaper knives and there's no pushing involved. It's like cutting hot butter.:ThumbsUp

If youre needing a new knife and youre on the fence on what to get I recommend the Rapala Heavy Duty. I bet it would run thru the rib bones on striper and catfish with no problem too. I'm sure the Bubba is as good (cant see how it would be that much better) but it comes at almost twice the price. And according to the reviews this knife should last for years for the common fisherman.

I have a Bubba cordless. It will zip through a backbone and make a mess off a fillet. I have a corded American Angler I bought quite a few years back. It has cut many a fillet and still going strong

Used to use a corded Rapala ! And it did well
but I absolutely love my cordless bubba !

I use a mister twister. And have cleaned hundreds of fish with it.

I have a Rapala, and I like it. 4 years now and no hiccups.

Have an American angler for home use and will never part from that brand. Great knife and lasts forever. Have a cordless bubba for trips and love it as well but the feel isn't quite what the AA is. To me that is the biggest part of a knife, how it feels in your hand. Mister twister is a good feeling knife but never could get one last. Tried a rapala years ago and it was just too bulky and I would ruin filets...... Maybe they have changed design and worth looking into again.

All this talk about backbone has me thinking I am doing something wrong. I always cut head completely off from the start, giving me perfect line of sight to back bone, then I feel my way down it to the tail??????

I have a $20 mr twister, works good.

I never owned one of the older rapalas. According to the review posted it's about the same quality as all the Mr twisters.They arent the same as the R12HD one. Ive never owned such a powerful electric knife.

I have a 12v AA. It is the best knife I have had. Also have a Bubba cordless, it does a good job with Mister Twister blades.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe now I can salvage the filet when I go through the backbone
