Shad dart
Here's another try with a shad dart head. I believe this one's on the right track for the right mix of hair to head. It's definitely on the long side for a small jig but that ain't all bad. The thread work could be better for sure, but it provides a general idea how to transition onto that cone shaped head.Attachment 430770

Great tie as usual. With those long tails do you have issues with short strikes?

Thank you.
There's a few short strikes with the longer tails but I haven't noticed a big difference.
It seems like the longer tails discourage smaller fish from biting at times, which is usually fine by me.

Rezz ,I like that your paying attention to the longer tails. Not my favorite but if it is working stay with it. Your work is great just this old man would shorten those babies up. Keep them coming young man.

There's scissors in the boat for a trimming if needed.
Thank you.

Nice work! Should hold up well!

I like the idea of leaving the tail long if you have scissors to trim on boat as needed. As far the thread work, try counter spinning the thread as you go to flatten it out if you're not already doing so...repetition will take care of the rest. Keep on tyin'!

Thanks for the tip on thread. Some of the fuzzy threads like the one used here don't work as well as others. It seems like the GSP type works best for collars to me so far.
Keepin' on.
