Central Fl summer fishing

Hello all. New here. After a 10 year hiatus (work and family) I am getting back into speck fishing. I used to have great luck on lake Kissimmee but would fish in the fall and winter and do saltwater in summer. My question is it hard to find the specks during our summer time months? Thanks for any input

I have a little rig in central FL but I’m in MN and have never been to Kissimmee. I’ve had good luck with trolling jigs in deeper water with my baits just above fish found on 2D sonar chasing baitfish during the summer months. I have only done this during morning hours before it gets too hot and it has been productive.

First off, Welcome to Crappie.com and back to Florida.
I live up in Deltona and fish Lake Monroe. I do fish the lake for crappie starting in Sept. I like to long line with twister tails. I know that others do use beetle spins and they do work for them. Give it a try, best way to find out.

I’ve never used beetle spins but they likely would work. Twister and paddle tailed plastics work for me.

First, welcome from Debary, another neighbor to Slimjim that fishes Lake Monroe. Twister tails, beetle spins, roadrunners, and tail spinners all work fine. Sometimes. You already know how finicky they can be and some days they want flash and others they don’t. A lot of us run lots of rods and put different baits and colors out til the fish tell us what’s gonna work that day. I’ve trolled the river some too and par for the course, sometimes it’s great and others not a fish. Already said is to fish before the heat this time of year. I have some days when they seemingly throw a fish and stop eating around 9 or 10 o’clock. Hope this helps and good luck when you go.
