Broke out one of the vintage combos this evening: Mitchell 309 with a Garcia Conolon 2121 ultralight rod. Found some gills before the thunderstorms moved it.

I need to take my ol' 408 fishing soon, and also my Cardinal 3. They will not fit on a JDM rod (at least the ones I own) or most Fuji seats without trimming the reel foot a tad, so I have the Mitchell on a
Eagle Claw rod (6' Powerlite a la Richard Gene), and the Cardinal on a St Croix trout special.
Love the vintage glass rod bend .

Wish St Croix would make a replica ultralight glass rod .
I’d go for one made out of the newer S glass .
