Found a Garmin unit on ebay with a 300 lower price tag than retail. No warranty though. Seller says unit is new but Garmin will not warranty ebay sold product. I contend if its new its new, not previously registered. The warranty should still be in place. Take a chance on it or pass. 300.00 is 300.00 now more than it was 6 months ago.
It would be a gamble. I wonder if it is factory reconditioned. Most of those are sold without warranty.

Proceed with caution. HBird doesn’t have to know it was purchased on EBay. Maybe you can get the units serial number and check when it was made.

Garmin will only warranty when sold through a certified dealer. I'd proceed with caution.
To answer your question, two years of not worrying about it needing service and you having to pay for it.
I've gone the used route on many things over the years, and I have come to the conclusion that new is the only way to go. Too many bad experiences to outweigh the savings. If money is an issue, save up until you can afford what you want.
