I know that this is not supposed to be about numbers, but let's talk some numbers. Tonight I went out hoping to catch the five fish I needed to get to 300 on the new year. I got to 300 early, and the 300th fish was noticeably smaller than the others, so I measured it. Twelve inches right on the button. Now these are all black crappie which tend to be taller and more rounded than white crappie. I measured several of the next 32 that I landed and they were mostly 14" fish with 14 1/2" and 15" fish mixed in! Caught three 15" males that were almost solid black. Great night of fishing with some of the best quality crappie in the world. Forgot my phone this trip so no pictures other than this one of the counter.I had decided to lower my goal for this year to 500, and Tonight was the highest number of fish caught in an evening for me to date. I missed a bunch of bites to be sure and feel that I was fishing over good numbers of actively spawning and not aggressively biting fish. Tomorrow the numbers won't matter, but the memory will remain. Attachment 426675
