Clear soft plastic becoming my favorite non-color

Last year I happened to be messing around in my workshop and before I added color to some clear plastic that was heating up, I thought, why not pour it into molds as is? Long ago I caught bass on a clear plastic Zara Spook and PopR surface lures as well as Jim Rogers clear plastic crankbaits never thinking that clear soft plastic lures would work.

The lures I made were either all clear or a clear part added to a colored segment:

This 27" chain pickerel was caught yesterday using a clear plastic curl tail grub:

In fact a majority of the 85 fish my partner and I caught were taken on clear plastic. Here are a few more:

The largest bass (2 3/4 lb) and crappie (12") caught yesterday were caught on a 4" clear curl tail grub:

One year I had some clear very light chart colored baits that looked like nothing on a hook in the water , they were not something you would think would work very well . Had one on a rod one night in the pitch black of the night and was banking it and just pitched it for grins ,even though I was pretty sure it was trash at night .......
Not was the case and had a few folks wanting to see what I was using that was so ridiculous good to pitch in the dark . Your post does not surprise me much and in the case of this part of the world ,the clear baits might be an item that resembles one of the several beloved clear fresh water shrimp species that abound in the southern waters .

Great catch, spoon. That pickerel looks like one mean dude. What a fight that must have been.

I use a Bobby Garland Hologram which is clear with some glitter. Best in clear water.

Can you believe it: large pickerel caught/ 5 much smaller pickerel cut the line instantly and we had to retie. I never thought picks schooled, but toward the end of my tm battery life we hit a loose group in one part of the lake. After my 3rd lure was lost within 15 minutes, I'd had it! Time to reflect on the great day we had - at home.

But after yesterday, I got into making some clear and tinted plastic lures this morning which I know will do well on light jig heads:

Working well for you

Interestingly, clear plastic - hard or soft - is never colorless. There will always be a transmitted background color as well as light reflected off internal and upper external surfaces. If ever there was a finesse color, clear plastic provides it.
