My Record
I thought I had lost it but today I found my first rod and reel. The rod is a Betts 6 footer and the reel is a Record Half-bail. Not a big thing to many folf but it was the first rod I ever owned and the first rod I bought with my own money I earned. Bought at a little bait shop on the way to visit my grandfather on the French Broad River in Sevier County Tennessee in the mid 1960's. The reel was a gift from my Dad. It is the rod I caught my first fish on and many more after that. Just waxing nostalgic :fish.

Yep, thanks for the post, Dan. When I cleaned out my childhood home when my mother died I found in the basement my first rod and reel. It was a crappy bait casting rod and a really pathetic reel, and I mean pathetic! It still had Dacron line and a nylon leader. That said, I was so happy to bring it home. Caught a ton of pans as a kid, and that is where I fell in love with pistol grips. I should bring i5 out of the garage. The cork has literally rotted away. Thanks for the post. Memories!;)
