What to expect?

Winter returned to the Shenandoah Valley yesterday. Low tonight will be 28. Prior to yesterday the lake I primarily fish had a surface temperatures of 65. Fish were congregating in tree tops in 12 -14 feet of water with a few being caught shallow in brush. Forecast is for 53 today progressing to 77 by Friday, mostly cloudy. I haven't fished long enough to know how weather effects fish behavior. Will this cold spell slow them down? I assume they are wanting to get shallow to spawn. I appreciate all responses. You folks are really helpful with the information you share.

Probably will not effect water temps very much. Water temps in shallow areas will cool down some. If it is sunny they will warm back up quickly

Cold fronts push them deep(er) and tighter to cover in my experience. They're already holding deep enough that they likely didn't move much though. This cold air is just a blip on the thermometer and they should be going like they were or better by the end of the week. Good Fishing and have fun figuring them out next time you go.

The cold and a really big rain has blown out my local water for a few days. Just when the bite was starting to get better.
