Kayak Trip Report, Beaverdam Creek & Limestone Bay/Creek
I fished Beaverdam Creek yesterday from daylight until noon. I returned 5 Crappie over 12" and a dozen shorts. I moved across the peninsula to Limestone Creek after lunch and did better. I kept half a limit of smaller Crappie and returned 30 Crappie over 12" including a couple that were 15". Dozens of shorts, gills, bass and several large catfish. 50/50 jig and bobber and single pole on isolated laydowns. Best bait was a 1" slider jig on a 1/32oz jig head. The water was 58/59 degrees early and had warmed to 62 degrees by dark. Visibility of about 12 to 18 inches.
Fish came from 18" to 24" of water but no signs of fish fanning beds yet. The eggs in the females weren't grainy yet or swollen veins. Maybe another week or ten days if the water temperature will raise a bit and hold.
