Reunion with my old friend Mr. Skunk
The son-inlaw's birthday is coming up pretty soon; he's good to my daughter and grandkids, so he's A-1 in my book. I decided he needed some more fishing gear, so I got him a bucket full of those 50% off Bobby Garlands that we all cashed in on a few weeks ago at Bass Pro. Next, a Pfleuger President. I was undecided on which rod to get until I saw the opportunity to pull a fast one on my wife, "Honey, let's get this B&M Sharpshooter 6 and this B&M Buck's graphite jig pole. He can choose which one he wants and I'll keep the other one." We cooked up big plans to go try it out today. The wife brought a roast along for supper this evening, I thanked her for her vote of confidence in our fish catching ability. We were going to try out his new rig on Lake Killarney today, but ended up in one of the bar pits nearby instead. The wind didn't look quite as bad as it did on Killarney. The water was up, lots of green grass and yellow flowers sticking up out of the water, which was surprisingly clear. We flung an assortment of those 50% off Bobby Garlands and chartreuse marabou jigs, slipped the bobber from 18 inches to 6 feet, but not even a bump. Oh well....even if Mr. Skunk tagged along, I had a great time with the son inlaw today. And the roast was mighty good.
