We usually run 3 rods out the front left (4', 8' & 12' rods) & front right side of the boat. 4 are long lines & 2(4' rods) are drop shot rigs dragging the bottom or close to bottom. Out the back, we run 6 more rods (6', 8' rods). 2 are drop shot rigs & 4 are long lines. The drop shot rigs have a 5/8 oz weight at the bottom of the rig. Usually, speed is .5 to .8. If we get much faster the drop shot rigs just ride up some. But, that's good because fish are at different depths.
Sometimes, all the fish want is a hook & a minnow. We run a mixture of jigs & just hooks with minnows. Often, the Jigs are tipped with minnows too. Jigs are 1/16 oz & 1/8 oz. If the fish are showing deep just add small split shots or slow down some.
This spacing also helps from getting the lines tangled up.
