So here's the story. My F250 was spewing fuel all over my exhaust system. Not good.
A stinking rodent ate my fuel line. Specifically the elbow on the quick connector located on fuel pump/sending unit located on top the fuel talk.

That's all it took, one rodent sharpening his teeth. Looks to be all of two bites, and leaky leaky!
Anyway, it's an easy fix if you have good access. And on an F250 it's doable. So of course, rather than taking it to a dealer, having them do it the right way, draining the (full) fuel tank, dropping the tank, and replacing the entire line. At a likely cost of $300-$500 (just guessing). I of course figure I can buy the part for $10 and save me some money. Well to get the part onto the existing nylon fuel line you have to heat it up with hot water. I figured the hotter, the easier it would be to slide it on. I used my Keurig to heat the water, and I boiled it in the microwave. Good to go, until you're holding it up awkwardly under the vehicle, while trying to set your timer (supposed to soak it in hot water for 10 min). SLIP goes the cup, and scalding hot water all over arm and chest! I screamed like a little girl! Wonder what the neighbors thought?
So as the story continues, I still have to get the job done. What I learned, heating it only Keurig hot and only soaking the end of the fuel line in the water for 2 minutes worked just fine. Don't use boiling water!!!! OUCH
