3 Piece Iprimi

Headed out to the local pond this morning in hopes of catching a few stocker trout. Rigged up at the truck and walked down the trail to try a new spot. Just before I got to the waters edge, my foot got caught in a tree root and down I went. It happened so fast I barely got my hands up to shop the impact. It hurt, but the worst part was seeing my new Iprimi 56XXUL-S in 3 pieces. I knew as soon as I hit the ground it was done for. To add insult to injury, I only brought 1 rod.

I drove home feeling mad and disappointed at the same time. I’m not prone to accidents and have never done something like this in my 68 years of fishing. On the bright side, I sent an email off to Chris at TenBum and had a reply almost instantly. Replacement parts are available and I’m just waiting on an invoice now. To make it better, I grabbed a new rod, headed back to the stream and limited out. Looks like maybe it’s time to invest in a rod case. :Rofl

Jeez, HJ, that’s terrible. Glad Chris had the replacement. I fell in at least once last season but fortunately kept that hand high enough that only the reel got a soaker. It was not my little Luna that day. It hurts, but at least you could get it replaced.

Ouch ! That sure screws up a fishing trip .
That’s a good thing about a two piece rod . Tips are usually available.
I alway carry a 5’ 6” 4-piece St Croix UL travel rod in the back of the cab of my extra-cab Tacoma , just in case .

Ouch, hate that feeling, broke my second JDM rod within 6 weeks of getting it. Rod cases are now a regular part of my bank fishing gear, a good investment.

Great idea Stan! Just placed an order for a rod case. Got one a little longer than needed so it will work for multiple rods and will fit with my backpack. Oh well, lesson learned, and it could have been worse.

Sorry to hear about the rod, disappointing, I know.

I’m sorry to hear this. I’ve been preaching rod cases for some time. Since I started using them no broken rods. Brought one out here to Arkansas with me…but looks like icy roads here next 2 days so probably no trout fishing.

Hate to hear it.

I am hard, very hard on rods. Tore up my Tict Rockin' Power once: while launching boat, a stray trailer strap hooked it, snatched it out of the boat, and I dragged it across 50 yards of rough asphalt going to park. Scratched it up terrible, yanked out the stripper guide, damaged the Luvias reel, but it didn't break the rod. Some superglue to put the guide back in the wrap slot, a reel change, and it was back in action. A freak accident. Had to order a new bail and some other parts for the Luvias reel.

I bought a JDM hard case, but I admit I rarely use it, and carry my rods to and from the house full length and strung up. Rods are the first thing I put in the truck, and last thing I take out. They ride in the cab, not in the bed.
