Spyderlok Setup / Question

Hey All,

I'm sure this topic has been beat to death and yes, I've researched on the forum however, also looking for some personal experiences. I just pulled the trigger on my first "mine only" rig ('21 Ranger 1880MS) and one of the absolute first things I'm planning on doing is placing a Millenium order for rigging/cranking setups. I just have a couple questions when it comes to mounting the R-100 Spyderlok Gen 2.

Gene's (Millenium) instructions make it sound as simple as assemble, drill and play but curious if anyone has any additional tips. For example, simply screwing the mounting plate into the decking makes me wonder if running 2-3 rods off of each rack will eventually pull the screws out. Has anyone ever bolted them down and fasten via nut/bolt on the bottom side of the decking? That probably increases the chances of stubbed toes since the bolt head would not be flush to the mount, right?

Also, speaking of stubbed toes......is there any prep work to get the mounting plate flush with the deck carpet or does the plate pull down as you tighten to essentially flush it up?

Mine are just as tight as the day I put them on 3 years ago, but my boat is aluminum. If you're worried they'll loosen up over time, you can get bolts with the same type head as the supplied screws. As for the carpet, they won't be flush but will pull down some, especially with bolts.

I've seen people do them both ways I have always had aluminum plates cut about 5'' square and put under my deck then use bolts with nuts I believe I could pull a skier behind mine lol.

Thanks for the ideas, gents. I think this is what I was looking for and probably making it overly complicated. I think I'll pick up another set of baseplates from Millenium and match them up on top and below the deck with bolts vs. screws.

I am at work our government is paying me well to sit here and answer some questions we get several breaks a day you know LOL.

I bolted mine as well. My boat is fiberglass but was able to get everywhere I needed to to make it happen. I have the base plates all around my boat so that I can move my rod holders from spider rigging to long lining off the side to pulling straight off the back.
