Well I guess I should leave the poles at the house. This lake must not be any good for crappie. Thanks for the help?
Hang in there Jim, Darryl and Jerry will see your post and will give you a report. They are both guides and are probably busy right now but give them a day or two and I bet one of them will respond.
Jim sorry the board has been a little dead lately. Degray is tough this time of year with the water lice in action. Though I haven't fished the lake in years and being a night owl I would suggest a nightstalk to beat the heat and boats.
I have one trip's worth of experience to Degray. It is similar to Ouachita though. Try following the deeper side of the grass lines on humps for bream and crappie (15' to 20'). My trip last year, I found some pretty decent bream in about 12' by casting black rooster tails. Check with Darryl or Jerry. They sunk some brush there last year. I don't really know if they are working it this year or not. But, I know they have more than one trip there.

I haven't been on DeGray in months. I have a couple of "scouts" that fish it and one has been doing real well on black bass and hybrids but I haven't heard any good crappie reports.
We've been having some slow days and some good days on Greeson (good for this time of year anyway). We found a couple walleye by trolling yesterday but about the time we started crappie fishing the crappie got the lock jaw. We did a lot better this morning. The 16-incher in the middle is "going on the wall".
Water levels this year are staying higher than in past years and of course the temps have been steadily below average. All that means this year has been an unusual year especially for the crappie. If you go to DeGray the crappie will be there but know they will be scattered due to the high water.
