I need help figuring out what was used to make these! Caddis fly larva are great here for everything from panfish to trout and steelhead.
I tried finding the material but am having no luck matching the patterns for the body. Maybe jute twine? The legs are easier using peacock or feathers trimmed own down but suggestions would be great.

looks like a killer bluegill bait.
Doesn't look like jute to me. Maybe some sort of gemp used for making bracelets
that one is good for an emerger but the fish here will target the nymph a lot in full protection.
Looking at it, it looks to me like it's a twisted feather like maybe marabou tied backwards. Tying it so a few strands stick out for the legs. the thread wrapped toward the hook bend. then the feather twisted, then wrapped back to the hook bend, then tied off. The material looks large because of the magnification. Probably tied on a size 10 or 12 hook...Just what I'm seeing...
To me, the top one does look like it might be jute twine or something similar. And both would be killers. The bottom isn’t hairy like the twine looking stuff so I would agree that it may be maribou. I don’t know what they used for the legs but that makes it off the chart buggy looking to me.
Wouldn't it still have a hairy look if it was marabou?
No, not necessarily.
I used to tie one kinda like that for trout fishing. Mine didn't have any legs just a bead head and the body was burlap. The color doesn't exactly match the burlap I used but the texture looks pretty close.
