Cleaning up the shoreline

So often times when lakes get low folks come along and "clean" up the shoreline .
This time it was the corp. folks and they removed the old frame left from a fishing dock that was there for countless years .
Somewhere in the 40 to 50 year range and for sure one of the best targets EVER for big slabs in the spring .
this particular location gets lined up in the bank in the spring and most try to get to this corner first due to its fish holding capacity .
went to run the dog this last week and the lake is down about 6 to 8 foot or so and the "frame" should have been sitting there on dry ground with just a bit of it in the water .
It shocked me to see it gone to say the least ........:banghead
Sk will miss it for sure and myself as well ...

Sneak something else in at night in a different spot lol. I know the feeling are go to small lake had this very bushy tree for some reason never Rotted, thing we there for like 20 years. New people move in and burn it when they were out messing around on the ice as we are trying to fish.

Every winter I would cement the base of are Christmas tree and leave it on the ice in a good spot for spring to come. They last a few years to.

had one fella "clean" the shoreline at a place we like to hit in the spring at another lake .
he pulled out a huge willow that fell with a tractor and cut back all the cattails and generally ruined the shoreline on the entire lake in the hopes to make it more scenic and parklike :banghead

Yes, good intentions can sometimes backfire. Someone might think about a new condo…just saying.

On my home lake you have the Ski club nazi's who routinely go along the shore and ANY cover sticking up will pull out. even those underwater and along shore that pose zero threat to any of these folks. Our anglers club will sink over a hundred xmas trees local retailer gives to us annually but have to be down where these idiots can't see. when you ask them why they do it they give you that look and say we have to do it even tho it makes no sense.IF

I am sure you and SK will put some new structure out on same spot and now no one but you will know it's there. IF the usual suspects go there and get disappointed they can't see it maybe they won't hang around there anymore.

not likely to sink anything in that area , the locals hammer it past to death by a good mile in the spring .
some camp all night and others stay for the entire day . a bit of a crowd for sure and if you are noticed hammering ,the next visit that spot will have campers on it for sure ....:banghead

Man, that sounds like one popular spot. Start a rumor about that spot down on the mountain goat trail and watch the pounders roll down the hill:Rofl

That does suck. If you could find the channel leading to that area maybe get on them before they get there. Hate to lose a good spot

After Katrina here they "De-Snagged" most everything in the water. The gov was paying by the load (Volume) to the debris removers. Every tree in the water, some sinker cypress that was in the waterways forever was removed.

a few years back we found a really nice tire reef with large rocks in it to the far left in that cove .
not many know it is there and its way off shore about as far as a person can cast .
if the fish are in that cove , it is better than the ole metal structure , said if ....
there isnt really a channel leading to that cove for the most part .
it is one of the best known spawn areas in these parts though
and the fish run large in that lake for this area
so you can imagine the traffic come spring
even at a mile walk in there .
lots of open water leading into there with not much for cover .
