Got my Jon boat back from Beech Lake Marine yesterday. They installed a new Merc 50 CT. Jumps out of the water at takeoff. Got tired waiting on tiller handle for other motor. This one has the big tiller handle with throttle idle speed control. Couldn't get proper one for other motor. The ones I got thru mail wouldn't work.

I bet it moves with that 50, my dad built a very nice 15 footer from scratch when I was little, I thought it went good with the 30 merc but a 50 would fly. I really wish I had money for a boat, I've been trying to find one that needs work cheap.

That gives the term Jon Boat a whole new meaning. Low level flight. I had a 1956 evinrude 18hp on a Shakespeare wonder raft back in the early 80’s that would outrun the 40 and 50 hp trihulls that were prevalent back then. That boat you have would make it look slow. Good luck with it Tom, sure looks like fun.
