How to mount livescope for combination bass & crappie fishing?

I have a maxxum trolling motor so no spotlock there. I fish mainly Lake Cumberland & Green some. I know i'm mounting my black box in the right side rod locker. I'm just not sure whether a pole mount or trolling motor mount would be better. I have no problem fishing deep if needed when bass fishing & considered a pole mount for the transducer to be able to point it offshore if needed but most times i'm not fishing open water either. Also is open water fishing common for crappie in warm weather. If so then that answers a big part of my questiuon. How do those of you that combo bass & crappie fish have yours mounted & have some tried trolling motor then went to pole instead that fish for both? Thanks

I have mine mounted on separate pole.

Open water in Summer is usually where the White Crappie can be found .... out following/shadowing the Shad schools. That's the main reason Pushing jigs & cranks is so effective during that time frame.

I suggest using the trolling motor shaft & trying that out, first, for both Crappie & Bass fishing techniques. If you find it leaving you unsatisfied, then consider a separate pole mount.

I mostly fish for Crappie, but once or twice a year during Summer nights I'll fish for Bass (worms/cranks). I haven't done any Bass fishing from my boat, since I've had Livescope, but that's because I go with one or two buddies and fish from another boat ... which does not have LS. As it is, I catch plenty of Bass while Crappie fishing, usually casting the banks with a Road Runner or jig. I just go on those Summer night trips as a throwback memory trip of my past.

Pappy, you mentioned crappie off shore in summer& I know a striper guide that catches them & some big bass way offshore when they’re chasing shad in summer. That’s another reason I thought about a pole mount but just wondering what would be better all the way around. I may try it on the trolling motor first. Thanks

I fish for both bass and crappie with my livescope and like you no spotlock. I prefer to mount it my trolling motor. I tried it on a pole mount and went back to the trolling motor mount. I found it to be easier to deploy and more intuitive to work when on my trolling motor. I felt like I had one hand that had to be working the pole quite often.

Been a while since I have bassed fished seriously but when I add Mega Live to my boat this is how I am going to do it already collecting the parts. Best of both worlds with the way he has this set up and reasonable to put it all together.
