Better and Better! (12/27/21)
The long line bite just seems to be getting better and better.
Numbers were down from previous trips but the quality was much better. Still waters, foggy this morning and cool enough for a hoodie...nice fishing weather. Hardly any boats around. Had to idle to the fishing grounds. Got lines in the water in the fog and caught fish here and there all morning. Fog lifted after a couple hours and even the sun shined the latter part of my fishing trip. Fish bit under all those conditions. I fished mainly 15' to 23' of water and the fish liked hanging about 5' off the bottom right under the bait balls. Best bite for me was probably around the 20ish depth with the active fish around the 15' mark looking up for bait.
Wind got up pretty strong and it got fairly hard to control the boat even with two small drift socks out. And the bite had died so at 1PM I had enough. Finished the day catching 35 crappie and 6 perch....bring 18 nice ones home. Here's the livewell shot......
