Only downside to lithium batteries

I see a lot of people going to lithium batteries, me included. I use them for my livescope, 106sv and 93sv plus. I would not use them on my 24 volt Terrova due to needing to remove the batteries, to charge, in the winter. You can't charge the batteries when it's 32 or under. I remove my 23ah as soon as l come off the lake and charge in my shop. I have plugs for this. I can't imagine removing my trolling motor batteries under my front deck on my skiff everything l go fishing in the winter. How do you guys handle charging your lithium batteries under 32 degrees? Wow I didn’t know there was a temp limit!

That is a consideration. Some places only have a few times a year that the temp gets down that low

Some of the guys on bbc forum are attaching this to the underside of their deck lids above their batteries to use and charge them when it’s below 32 degrees. Amazon.com

I figured somebody was using a heat mat to keep the temp up.

I don’t think they put this bee heater directly on the batteries as they commented attaching it to the underside of the lids…it gets up to 140 degrees warm. I would try double face carpet tape or something like that…to attach to the underside of the lids. For 10 bucks even slide it in battery compartment if there is room. Where there is a will,,,there is a way.

Also,,if your using a lithium battery for starting and you have your electronics attached to same battery and air temp is below 32 degrees…turn your electronics on before launching and the lithiums will self warm alittle to create a easier start of the big motor.

Insulating the battery box could help also

No reason a digital thermostat controller couldn't be used to keep the battery compartment at the desired temp
