The kids and brands are scattered this year for Christmas. So my bride and I are going to the state park on Caney for a few days. Will be looking for Crappie and trying out spider rigging for the first time. Also will be trying out the I pilot for the first time.
Any advice would be appreciated...... Merry Christmas everyone.
Don't know anything about Caney, but you are gonna LOVE that I pilot! I bought one this year and used it for the first time in November, absolutely LOVE it! Mine is the 12 volt Terrova.
i fished with a guide a couple of weeks ago and what he did was troll at around .3 mph that day. he said he varies the speed until he finds the one they prefer that day, .3, .5, .7. also used a weight heavy enough to keep shiners on bottom or whatever depth they are at. 2 shiners per rig. he fishes with shiners as thats what he prefers. i iam not an expert by any means, always learning so i will pass this along also. he said to watch the rod tip. when it flicks up the crappie has sucked in the shiner. When he feels the weight he will drop it and your rod tip going down is the weight falling. i always tried to set on rod tip going down. maybe thats some of reason i've been a crappie crappie fisherman. hope this helps.

Update. The wind kept us off the water most of the time but we had a great weekend together.
