Removing line from reels
Just a quick tip. Take an empty toilet paper tube and slide it over the chuck on a drill motor. (It will fit any I have but some brands may be smaller or larger.) Tape the end of the line to the paper roll and mash trigger on the drill. It only takes seconds and reel is empty.
(If it’s a baitcaster don’t forget to increase the drag or you’ll have the worst birdnest ever! Don’t ask how I know!)

Great idea. I’ve used a nail for years but your idea sound a lot faster.

+1 on this new to me trick. Also great advice on not forgetting tightening the reel. (Ask me how I know)

I do something similar except I use an empty spool that the line came on. In my case it's a Stren 330 yard spool. Ran a long bolt through it, nut the other side up tight on the spool and chuck that up in the drill. I cut 2 slots on opposite sides of the spool and cut the old spooled line with a razor knife in the slots so there is no chance of wildlife getting caught up in it (even though it goes straight in to the garbage can.
