Been offered a week of Crappie fishing with my brother in law @ Lake Wylie . Upcoming Either In March or April .
Thoughts on making a good calendar choice?
I prefer cast / retrieve vs. trolling / longlineing
Thanks for any feedback !

Both are good! But I'd say April! You can join in with the Spring Fest we have every year at Ebenezer Park and it's free to all crappie.com members, family and friends. Crappie will be on the banks spawning or heading to them. Depend on the weather and water temps and how bad they want to spawn. Glad you are planning to fish Lake Wylie and hope you the best of luck. Hope you can drop in on us and have some fun. :highfive
I would split the difference. Last week in March or first of April. I usually catch bigger in March and more in April. There are exceptions, one of my best was on April 26Attachment 412052

Ice out is usually mid march in upstate NY.
We have None of those white perch / white bass , we usually target sunfish and gills in winter and spring
The first weekend in April would be a good choice. Some of us will be putting the rods down to chase turkeys around the woods for opening weekend. Meaning a few less boats on the water.
