This year has seen a increase in numbers of early and mid season runs. Steelhead started to run some Pa streams in Mid September making it one of the earliest runs since its beginning. Current rains as well as past rains bring in runs of fish regularly. However not all streams get the large runs of fish. Currently Elk creek is one that has fish the entire length of the stream. As soon as the water levels drop and clear fishing should return to very good or even excellent. Watch the USGS gauges for Walnut creek and Brandy run ( a small tributary ) Elk creek. Most fish are in the 6 lb. range but bigger fish are mixed in. Good luck be patient as fishing pressure can be a deterrent and be safe.
