TARP White crappie 10/12/21
Biofisher and I thought that we only had 2 hours to fish this morning, but it turned out to be 3.5 hours when Wanda’s dental appointment was pushed back to Thursday so we crappie fished on the Chick instead of going to the tailwaters of WB dam. We will hit that tomorrow, the good Lord willing.
We got in on the last hour or so of the morning solunar table best period of the day, but we were lucky enough to hit one productive dock and caught 5 of our 7 keepers that Gary took home for dinner. The big fish was a 14.25” TARP White crappie.
The fish were deep and not very active, but a big fish that I’m guessing was a catfish slammed my jig and immediately dove down into cover and I had to break it off. It would not come out of the cover. The fish actually were not under the dock but deep right along side of the dock on a 17 countdown.
Our last stop of the morning was an offshore brushpile and we picked up our final two keepers and 2-3 short crappie. One lone yellow bass was the only other fish that we landed.
Bobby Garland plastics, white/chartreuse, Gumdrop, Lights Out, Blue Ice, and a natural color that I forgot the name of all fooled the fish. We left a lot for seed. Lolol.
