In the late 70s early 80s we winter trapped them $40-50 in the round for large and XLs, chopping ice was a lot of work though.

Didn't see many in South Alabama unless they were way up in really small creeks. The gators treated them as appetizers in the larger sections of water.

Love the mount. Actually had one of these dead in my parents yard when growing up. There isn't really any water near except our farm pond and that was probably 1/2 mile away. That was the first time seeing one up close.

tried to skin just one time in my life , said tried .....what a strange over powering willow smelling greasy thing it was .
reminded me a hog skinning in the summer with a much more funky odor , not fun ....hats off to the taxidermist that did them 2 for sure

Lol...In the time it took one guy to skin,flesh, and pin a beaver hide, the other guy could skin,flesh,and stretch 10-15 muskrats. We only skinned a few before we decided to sell them in the round. There is lots and lots of them up here,the county has a part time trapper hired,as does the water shed district.Every fall/early winter the water shed hires track backhoes to remove dams out of water ways.....Every spring/summer new dams take there place.Theres no truer statement the "busy like a beaver";)
