Ultralight or Light Blank for Tiny Jigs ?

I am wanting to build my second rod I just built a med-light rod for casting 1/16 oz jigs and up to 1/4 oz jig . Now I am wanting something to cast 1/64 to 1/16 jigs . DISTANCE IS CRITICAL ! I live near the lake and I primarily fish the same areas off the bank . Theres a lot of times when the fish are closer to the bank and slamming tiny jigs where I fish . So my thoughts are a longer rod in the 7 ft length area . But I am not sure that a 7 ft ultralight blank wouldnt be more of a noodle with reduced sensitivity . Actually I have no idea at all lol hence I am here asking folks with some experience . Do any of you have any thoughts on this subject ? For those of you needing more information to give an informed reply please ask sometimes my limited knowledge makes me omit important facts . Thank you all for your help it really makes a difference to us rookies .

There is no reason a longer rod has to be noodly. The problem becomes no matter how long you make a rod you can't overcome line drag off the reel and guides, lure aerodynamics, etc. You sooner , or later come to a point where there are diminished returns. 7 ft blanks are my choice unless they become a pain to use due to brush, trees, etc. and they make everything you catch feel bigger due to their longer length. Sensitivity has not been an issue for me.

When it comes to casting jigs past the 1/32oz mark it takes a purpose built rods to excel at it. It's just like when I build BFS rods for customers. You have to find a blank that will load the bait up and use 2LB line to truly get the distance your going after. For casting 1/32 or 1/16OZ jigs a 7' Mod, mod fast or fast action UL in the 2-6 LB line class will do just fine. And as said just because people think a longer rod will cast farther, its not always true. The rod is basically for leverage, and from my personal experience when if comes to 1/100 to 1/32OZ jigs. I like a MUDHOLE 6' mod UL 1-4LB line class blank they have, but they brake stupid easy so you have to baby it. Its my go to rod with 2LB line for casting tiny hair jigs for shell crackers and gills. It makes them feel like monsters. If you bass fish Ill explain it like this. Say your trying to cast a 3/16 texas rig on one hand you have a 8' heavy flipping still and the other hand you have a 7' Med. Same reel and line, the 7' Med will out cast the longer 8' flipping stick because it can properly load the bait up to launch it out there. The 8' flipping stick doesn't even know the bait is there, and you mine as well be trying to sling a cast with a 2x4

I am starting to understand this a little better . Correct me if I am wrong , but, get a blank rated for the purpose . Another words KISS ( keep it simple stupid ) lol . The advice I have recieved here is invaluable thank you .

In short answer yes. I look at fishing rods like golf clubs, different blanks have a different areas they excel at. You wouldn't hit a 5 iron out of a bunker next to the green way of thinking.
