Where are those gills?

Shallow, mid-depth or deep? Fishing from the bank you kind of just have to test the waters, so to speak. The last two days I found them shallow with a popper, mid-depth with a #1 spinner with a split tail grub trailer and deep with a panfish stinger on a drop shot set up. Fished both days midday for a couple of hours. Yesterday, very hot/humid around 90. You can't believe how good that ice cold bottle of water back at the truck was. Today, got in about 2 hours before a line of bad T storms rolled in. Back in about a mile and got caught halfway out. Sat it out for about a hour before I was able to make it the rest of the way. Haven't been that waterlogged in quite a while. Dry change of clothes at home-what a good feeling. Connecting with a nice fish here and there only lately. Kind of missing those easy spawning fish about now. First 3 pics on the popper, next 3 on the spinner/trailer and last 2 on the dropshot. Thanks for lookin! You certainly found some nice ones

Nice photos! Enjoyed reading about your trip. I got caught out in a deluge in July and by the time I got to the car I was soaked all through! Like you I was about 3/4 of a mile up the stream.

Moonrunner, I’d say those are definitely a nice mess of gills plus 1. Oh and the Quantum reel does add some bling to the rod as well. Thanks for the ride!

Thanks. Bought a few of these Quantum's when they were closing out. They are a OK reel until the anti-reverse clutch bearing sleeve starts slipping.(common problem with these) The vintage reels have their own type of bling and are much more durable.(IMHO)

I love quantum reels. I have 3…a #5( their smallest), a 10 which is the ultralight size, and my latest Accurist pt25 a bass reel with the latest introduced “hot sauce.” I think they are very smooth and capable reels, but what’s not ok is the weight and the build quality….it’s very crude compared to a Daiwa or Shimano, often showing paint chips right out of the box. But then I don’t expect much from reels selling sub $100. I read about the version reel you’ve shown here with its harden scratch resistance surface, they got a name for it I couldn’t remember, and that quantum actually would loose money if they continue this practice because it’s a very complicated process. Good read!
