Late Fathers Day Fishing- Central Florida Mixed Bag
My dad and I couldn't fish on Fathers day, so he came over this weekend and we hit the lake for a few days of fishing. You never know what to expect with the weather patterns this time of year...one second its bright and sunny, and the next second its torrential downpours. Luckily, we dodged most of the thunderstorms and got in 3 good days of fishing. We did pretty well on Largemouth Bass, with the biggest going just under 4 lbs but lots in the 2-3 lb range. Most were caught on texas rigged worms (senko or ribbon tail).
To my surprise, I found a good mess of specks in about 5-7 feet of water. Nothing big- but kept enough for a fish fry. All artificial, either the trout magnet, or Euro Tackle B-Vibe. Both are becoming my favorite speck jigs and the bass hit em too. Add in a couple shellcracker and a few big bluegills, mudfish, gar and one brown bullhead catfish and we had good consistent action. Water temp was 82-87 degrees and as expected, the bite really slowed by 10am.
Always a good time fishing with Dad! Below are a few pics. Cheers!
