Powerpole fittings

I have a 10' Blade series Powerpole on my boat. I got home friday afternoon and it was deployed under the shed the boat is stored in. After inspection I found a hose blown out of the fitting at the pump in the boat. Is this common? I went on the PP website and ordered a new ferrule for the repair and a new fitting in case it happens again but my question is why would this occur while stored?
