fishing HERO / MENTOR list
Gosh there’s so many. My granddaddy took me fishing my whole childhood when no one else was going. He never fished, just took me. My other granddaddy was a big fisherman. All my uncles were big fisherman that I grew up fishing with. But I’ll have to say #1 was also the man who was the biggest influence and mentor on everything in my life. Taught me his trade, which he was the best at and I’m still trying to be as good as him to this day. Tried to teach me how to be a good man, which I’m still trying although I know I’ll never be half the man he was. And was my best friend and always my favorite fishing and hunting partner. He hadn’t fished in years but I talked him into going with me a few years ago. Just like when I was a kid it was a lesson. We talked about life, work and just whatever came up. He gave advice on my relationship. Just a great memory I’m thankful for. And yes,he schooled me with his antique zebco 33. Sorry for the long rambling post, but my gosh how I miss him. And likegrumpa would give anything for one more trip. A couple weeks later he started going down and was never able to go again. Of course I’m talking about my dad.
